As obnoxious and evil as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich my be, he at least isn't totally stupid about politics, having captained the Republicans to their first House majority in 40 years back in 1994. Arguing that the 1994 wave was only made possible by a strong moderate Republican contingent facing extermination right now, he said the American right-wing is on track "to make Pelosi Speaker-for-Life," by undercutting more moderate Republican candidates with ultra-right primary challenges and independent candidacies.

Of course the rest of the article was filled with hateful, obnoxious, and less politically savvy commentary from Gingrich. But I expect that obviously. Some of it's just boilerplate anti-Democratic Party bromides that he's required to say.

But the central point remains that America's right-wing, foaming-at-the-mouth base conservatives need to tone it down and get realistic or spend decades in the wilderness.
